The Gift and Discipline of Discernment

Scripture: Hebrews 5:14 (NIV) — “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

Discernment is a precious gift from God, but it is also a discipline we grow in through practice and obedience. In a world full of voices and conflicting messages, spiritual discernment helps us to identify God’s truth and avoid deception. The Bible encourages us to train ourselves by spending time in God’s Word and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

True discernment comes from a heart fully surrendered to God and a mind renewed by Scripture. It protects us from spiritual traps and strengthens our faith. As we walk daily with the Lord, let us pray for wisdom and clarity to see things from His perspective.

Reflection:
Ask yourself — am I feeding on the solid food of God’s Word daily? How can I cultivate a lifestyle that sharpens my spiritual senses?
